J. William (Bill) Ernst has been actively involved in the Commercial Real Estate Industry for over 50 years. Mr. Ernst has an extensive background in Commercial Real Estate Management, Development, Finance, and Commercial Real Estate Investments.
Mr. Ernst started his role in the commercial real estate industry with the Justus Companies, a full service family general contracting and development firm, located in Indianapolis, Indiana and growing to Executive VP of that Company. During his role there he was instrumental in the Development, Asset & Property Management of several neighborhood shopping centers, office and medical buildings and in the development of a Marriott Hotel. In addition to those duties he was also responsible for selling in excess of $20,000,000 of Design/Build General Contracting for the company. His career has spanned from local development firms to International Merchant Development firms. Most recently Mr. Ernst owns Charter Realty Group with offices in Indianapolis, Indiana. Mr. Ernst is the Principle Broker/Owner & Managing Director of Charter Commercial Realty Group.
Previous institutional clients include Prudential Pension Funds (PRISA), Teachers Life and Annuity, and Aetna Diversified, in addition to many privately held corporate and individual clients.
He has worked with several Wall Street firms in the area of initiating mortgage backed securities programs for commercial real estate.
Mr. Ernst's civic activities include Chairman of the Design review Committee for the downtown regional center in Indianapolis, Indiana, Chairman and Member of the Carmel/Clay Educational Foundation of Carmel, Indiana. Member of formation task force creating the Hamilton County Alliance (Hamilton County Indiana Economic Development Arm) & The Carmel /Clay Community Foundation n/k/a "The Legacy Fund" He has garnered many awards for his work in the field of Commercial Real Estate Development from cities and towns.
